Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 07:10 EST
HONG KONG — Exports of freshwater fish from Guangdong Province in southern China will be suspended from Tuesday because carcinogenic disinfectant and antibiotics have been found in them, Hong Kong fishmongers said Monday.
Hong Kong, Kowloon and New Territories Freshwater Fish Wholesale Association Director Tommy Hui, quoting sources from mainland China, said traders in four of five major export sites in the province have confirmed the export suspension. "There is nothing we can do now, except wait for resumption," Hui said.
